Will a heater cause a plant to herm?

During this cold spot, I placed a heater in my grow space to help keep temps up. I placed a box fan a few from the heater to circulate. The plant closer to the heater hermed!! My room doesn’t get above 82 F and no lower than 68F. The seeds were older, so I don’t know if that was it or not. (An old pack of TGA that has been stored right).the other 3 plants are fine.

Thanks DGC, I know you got this one.

Stress can trigger herm traits but not cause herms. Herms are just shit genetics.

Does the heater have a filament or lcd/led read out that is emitting light?

I’ve always wondered about the heaters with the filaments that glow red. But when you said you had some old stupid seeds that you didn’t even know about… I’m gonna go ahead and put the blame there

I’d sit in the dark with that heater for a while and see how much light it puts out. If the plant closest to the light had some male flowers I’d suspect light, but not heat or cold.

How long after you put the heater in did the male flower appear? It would take at least a few days for the stress to kick in, and then the flower would have to start growing taking a couple more days.

Does not emit light. Make flowers showed up next day. Maybe just timing and bad genetics
